If you have a sensitivity to adhesive bandages, you may react to acrylate and methacrylate, chemicals commonly found in tape adhesives that impart stickiness. Allergic reactions to adhesive bandages typically manifest as irritant contact dermatitis or allergic contact dermatitis.
The most prevalent reaction is irritant contact dermatitis, which isn't a true allergic response. In most cases, rashes caused by adhesive bandages can be managed at home. However, it's advisable to consult a doctor if the rash is painful, blisters, or if additional symptoms like fever or shortness of breath occur.
